US Open Predictions – Updated Post Round 1

Below is the updated predictions for the US Open after incorporating the results from Round 1.  The big news was the loss of Kei Nishikori that opens up the second quarter, especially for Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and secondarily Ferrer & Cilic.

To visually comprehend how the probabilities have changed after round 1, below is a color coated draw with the absolute delta in round-by-round odds between the current predictions to the original predictions.

A collection of blue shows within a certain section of the draw signals a loss of a favorite with everyone’s odds improving. Examples of this are in the top half of both the second and third quarters with Nishikori and Simon’s upsets, respectively.

A single horizontal line of blue signals an improved chances due to a player beating a dangerous first round opponent.  Examples of this are Andy Murray and Roger Federer.
