Updated Men’s Tennis Ratings

I have compiled an improved tennis rating system based on an Elo ranking methodology instead of the ATP’s current system.  Players’ win-loss outcomes are scaled to tournament winner point values.  The output ranking value is equivalent to predicted winning percentage against an average professional player.

The top 50 Men’s tennis ratings for the last year through ATP Rome Masters 1000 are provided below.

There are no major changes after the French Open, Murray jumped Stan Wawrinka from #4 to #3.  Also, Ernests Gulbis made a big move from #27 to #16.  However, his jump in the latest ATP rankings to #10 is a little too drastic.  Note that these rankings certainly help players who have missed significant time such as Murray & Del Potro.

Coming up next, a post-analysis review on our French Open predictions.
